23 September 2016

MBABANE, Swaziland – On the 9th of September, Winile Gamedze, our Finance & Admin Associate, was recognized for her 10 years of diligent and excellent service at UNFPA. Making her remarks at the recognition ceremony, the Representative Sharareh Amirkhalili, described Winile as a hard working team player with a great attitude. Winile was described as meticulous, hard-working and dedicated in the way she carried out her work and always ready to go beyond her call of duty to respond to the work needs of other team members.  Winile’s immediate supervisor, Sipho Dlamini also commended Winile for her positive attitude, which he said made it effortless to work with her. He also spoke to her extensive knowledge of her area of work, noting that this proficiency made her the go-to person for most finance and admin systems issues. Asked to describe Winile in one word, these are some of the words her colleagues listed – fabulous, meticulous, dedicated, committed, hardworking, competent, amiable, dynamic, ethical and results-oriented.

Meticulous, dedicated, hardworking, competent, amiable, dynamic, ethical and results oriented...

Making her remarks at the recognition ceremony, Winile thanks UNFPA for what she described as 10 years of continuous growth. She also thanked all UNFPA staff for contributing to this growth and for contributing to making working at UNFPA a rewarding experience. She also extended her gratitude for the guidance and invaluable leadership lessons learned from the three country representatives she has served under in her decade with UNFPA – Ms. Aisha Camara-Drammeh, Mr. Hassan Mohtashami and the current representative Ms. Sharareh Amirkhalili. With a smile on her face, she recalled her first few weeks with UNFPA in 2006 coming from a small and slow-paced government office into a place that was so fast-paced it initially frightened her. One of her first “culture-shock” experiences was learning that all meetings at UNFPA were conducted in English, from her former place of employ where meetings were conducted in her effortless mother tongue! She also recalled how preparing for her first ever slide presentation to be presented to a roomful of implementing partners gave her endless nightmares! In conclusion she noted that it was hard to believe the tremendous growth of character, skill and knowledge that has transpired over the years and said she was looking forward to more years with UNFPA.
